Open year-round, Bylands is a premier plant and gardening destination in the Okanagan Valley. Family-owned and operated, for over 60 years, we offer one of the most diverse and complete mixes of hardy plants available in any garden store. Additionally, we have a comprehensive range of garden products and accessories. Though Bylands is known for its diverse selection of quality plants; it’s home décor and floral departments are a refreshing addition to the shopping experience in West Kelowna.
Most of plants sold at garden centre come from Bylands Nursery, growers of quality plants on 450 acres of prime agricultural land mainly in West Kelowna. This offers a significant advantage in terms of a lower carbon footprint and the availability of healthier, stronger, and more vigorous plants for customers.

Our History
When Adrian Byland arrived in Canada from Holland in 1953, he brought a family tradition of growing nursery stock that dated back to the 1700s. Three years later, Adrian and wife Katie bought their first 12 acres of land near Kelowna and began growing fruit trees for the local orchard industry.
In 1958 a small 200 square foot shed was built that is still used by the nursery today. The opening of the bridge in 1958 allowed customers to shop more easily at the fledgling nursery. The company started to expand more rapidly in the 1970s as the Okanagan grew in population.
When Adrian Byland died in 1982, son John took of the managing of the nursery and wife, Maria took over running the garden centre.
Today, after humble beginnings Bylands Nurseries encompasses 450 acres of land and grows in excess of three million plants annually.
Bylands remains a family-run enterprise with two generations working in the business. Bylands Nurseries is owned and operated by John and Bylands Garden Centre is owned and operated by Maria.

Our Future
Bylands Garden Centre has grown its legacy by opening a second garden centre and farm outlet in Kelowna. Located at 1629 K.L.O. Road in Kelowna, the farm outlet will carry our quality Bylands-grown nursery plants, including fruit trees, fruiting plants, ornamental trees and shrubs, and perennials. Additionally, you will find luscious houseplants, seasonal annuals, and a wide assortment of garden solutions like plant food and soil. We look forward to serving our communities and the Okanagan as a whole.
