You will learn practical strategies for starting seeds, maximizing yields, and designing a garden that fits your space, climate, and lifestyle.
This interactive session combines planning, planting, and expert guidance so you leave with both knowledge and seedlings underway.

- Seedling trays (Plant Best 72 with pellets)
- Assorted vegetable seeds, 2 packets per participant
- Seed tray labels and markers

What You’ll Learn
- How to design an edible garden that suits your space, climate, and goals
- How to read seed packets and choose high-yield varieties
- Seed starting basics, including watering, temperature, and when to pot up
- Direct seeding vs transplanting, in-ground vs container growing
- Succession planting for continuous harvests
- Fertilising, composting, companion planting, and season extension strategies
What You’ll Do
- Hand seed a full tray of assorted vegetable seeds to take home
- Create a rough draft of your edible garden plan
- Get your questions answered by an experienced organic vegetable farmer

About Heidi
Heidi Schulz began growing food as a child in California and has been passionate about it ever since. She developed her skills working on organic vegetable farms in Oregon and later founded Vibrant Acres Farm in West Kelowna, BC. Today, she shares her expertise both in the garden and in the sales yard at Bylands Garden Centre in West Kelowna.

Ken Salvail brings decades of hands-on gardening experience and a practical, approachable teaching style. With a strong background in ornamental and fruit tree care, Ken is passionate about helping gardeners build confidence in proper pruning techniques and seasonal garden maintenance.
